The Holey Rock Shop Of Texas ranch is located on the edge of the famous and scenic Texas Hill Country, an area of limestone-laden ranches and rock formations that is the source of the "Texas holey rocks" used in aquariums around the world.
Texas Holey Rocks, as most keepers of African Cichlid are aware, serve as a buffer to help maintain water hardness and alkalinity in aquariums. Also, water and chemical sculpturing of this rock has occured over eons by nature, resulting in the presence of holes, caves and crevices that, when placed in aquariums or terrariums, are perfect protection and play areas for fish and marine animals of all types.
Texas Holey Rock is very hard to come by, and retail and wholesale distributors are very low in stock if they can find it at all. Many of the rock providers have gone out of business or sold off their property to developers. Because of this scarcity, Texas Holey Rock is now selling for around $3 to $5 a pound in pet shops and aqaurium dealers. Prices will probably continue to rise in the upcoming months because of the low numbers of field finds across the Hill Country collection areas.
The Holey Rock Shop Of Texas ranch is perfectly located in the middle of one of the largest rock fields in central Texas so we have an abundant supply of the most popular rock sizes, shapes, and colors in Texas.
